NFL contracts are akin to a big shell game. These multi-year deals have no integrity year to year and can be altered or not fulfilled on a whim. Puts the whole system in question! The better phrase would be ‘Perceived Salary Cap’ since it never really stacks up to its original ‘billing’. I think to save us all a whole lot ot of time, energy & brain cells we’d all be better off if the media hyped propoganda machine just announce the players current year salary ‘take’ since the rest is best described as fantasy. I propose the creation of a Fantasy NFL Contract League where whoever puts together the best roster of player contracts this year which actually get paid out the most the following year win but don’t get paid the announced cash prize of that prior year to keep in step with the whole shell system….
